Prototype
The Mydex Community Prototype (MCP) tested the practical operations of Personal Data Stores with real individuals and organisations in the UK. The trial will take place from October 2010 to March 2011.
We were using the test to make sure that:
- individuals can easily use their Personal Data Store
- ‘the pipes work’ (that any information individuals want to share with an organisation can be shared, and received, easily, efficiently safely and securely)
- ‘the taps work’ (that individuals can turn this information sharing on and off as they wish, easily and effectively)
- organisations can use the Mydex platform to both receive and provide individuals with data, so ‘both sides’ benefit.
Using the learnings of the MCP, Mydex will launch a fully working Personal Data Store service early in 2012.

What’s next?
Mydex and the Personal Data Store are just the beginning of a vast new ecosystem of personal information management services (see The Big Picture).
Final details are still to be decided, but the full working service – to be launched in early 2012 – will offer individuals tools to:
- conveniently and securely manage their dealings with their suppliers
- conveniently and securely manage their communication and other preferences with these suppliers.
